For Inspiration and Recognition of Sciences Technology (FIRST).
FIRST is a non-profit organization, established to encourage teenagers to be involved with science and technology.  The organization was established In 1992 by the entrepreneur Dean Kamen.

The number of participating students each year is about 200,000, along with about 85,000 involved teachers, instructors and volunteers. In order to motivate youth to work in science and technology, FIRST founded a robotics competition, the FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition).
